{"id":46626,"date":"2020-08-17T17:59:55","date_gmt":"2020-08-17T17:59:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lnbr.cnpem.br\/?page_id=46626"},"modified":"2024-03-22T14:20:54","modified_gmt":"2024-03-22T14:20:54","slug":"dna-sequencing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/lnbr.cnpem.br\/en\/facilities\/dna-sequencing\/","title":{"rendered":"LNBR | High-Performance Sequencing"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;3\/4&#8243;][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>High-Performance Sequencing<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) facility is dedicated to large scale sequencing of nucleic acids (DNA\/RNA), enabling a diversified range of studies from gene expression analysis of samples from several biological systems, to the sequencing of genomes, metagenomes, metatranscriptomes, and target sequencing of molecular markers such as 16S rDNA and ITS).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Main skills and experimental techniques:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Sequencing of Metagenomes and Metatranscriptomes from complex environmental samples.<\/li>\n<li>Target sequencing of molecular markers such as 16S rDNA for Prokaryotic and ITS for eukaryotes diversity analysis<\/li>\n<li>Sequencing of genomes and transcriptomes (Stranded RNA-seq) from diverse organisms such as filamentous fungi, bacteria, yeasts, and plants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Currently, the facility is composed of two second-generation technology equipment, a MiSeq and a NextSeq 2000, both from the Illumina Platform (Illumina Inc.). Furthermore, a highly qualified team is dedicated to assist and advise users during all activities, including the experimental design, sample preparation, and sequencing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Start of operation:<\/strong> in 2014 and 2015 for external users.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_message]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Mandatory citation to be used in user publications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This research used facilities of the Brazilian Biorenewables National Laboratory (LNBR), part of the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM), a private non-profit organization under the supervision of the Brazilian Ministry for Science, Technology, and Innovations (MCTI).
