{"id":47991,"date":"2020-12-04T17:40:28","date_gmt":"2020-12-04T17:40:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lnbr.cnpem.br\/?page_id=47991"},"modified":"2021-04-05T11:24:52","modified_gmt":"2021-04-05T11:24:52","slug":"cana-energia","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/lnbr.cnpem.br\/biovalue\/biomassas\/cana-energia\/","title":{"rendered":"LNBR | BioValue &#8211; Cana Energia"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;3\/4&#8243;][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Cana energia: uma nova biomassa com potencial para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de bioenergia <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tradicionalmente, os programas de melhoramento gen\u00e9tico da cana-de-a\u00e7\u00facar sempre priorizaram selecionar gen\u00f3tipos de cana-de-a\u00e7\u00facar com elevado teor de a\u00e7\u00facar; consequentemente, parte consider\u00e1vel dos genes que contribuem para aumentar o teor de fibras foram gradualmente eliminados das variedades comerciais (Creste et al. 2014). Al\u00e9m disso, nunca houve interesse em selecionar variedades de cana-de-a\u00e7\u00facar com elevado teor de fibra, uma vez que dificultaria a extra\u00e7\u00e3o industrial do caldo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mais recentemente, devido ao maior interesse do setor industrial em materiais gen\u00e9ticos com maior concentra\u00e7\u00e3o de fibras para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o bioeletricidade e etanol celul\u00f3sico, a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de cana energia come\u00e7ou a ser estudada e incentivada no Brasil. A cana energia \u00e9 considerada uma boa alternativa para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de biomassa, pois, assim como a cana-de-a\u00e7\u00facar, as condi\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas brasileiras devem favorecer o seu desempenho produtivo, enquanto as usinas de cana-de-a\u00e7\u00facar podem se adaptar ao processamento desta nova mat\u00e9ria prima.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Na \u00faltima d\u00e9cada, empresas de melhoramento gen\u00e9tico iniciaram \u00e0 sele\u00e7\u00e3o de gen\u00f3tipos de cana energia e come\u00e7aram a comercializar estes materiais em empresas produtoras de bioenergia no Brasil. A vantagem em se produzir mais fibra em vez de a\u00e7\u00facar \u00e9 que as plantas tendem a ser mais vigorosas e r\u00fasticas, o que gera benef\u00edcios econ\u00f4micos e ambientais. Apesar da car\u00eancia de informa\u00e7\u00f5es sobre a cultura, acredita-se que a cana energia tenha maior vigor do que a cana-de-a\u00e7\u00facar, por possui maior n\u00famero de alelos oriundos da esp\u00e9cie <em>Saccharum spontanum<\/em> em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com <em>Saccharum officinarum<\/em>, o que \u00e9 usado como fonte de genes para resist\u00eancia a doen\u00e7as e vigor de brota\u00e7\u00e3o das soqueiras (Bischoff et al. 2008).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Os gen\u00f3tipos de cana energia tendem a se adaptar melhor a solos de baixa fertilidade, pois s\u00e3o menos exigentes em \u00e1gua e nutrientes, mais resistentes a pragas e doen\u00e7as e apresentam maior capacidade competitiva contra plantas invasoras, resultando em maior efici\u00eancia em seu cultivo (Carvalho-Netto et al. 2014). Segundo Matsuoka et al. (2012), a cana energia, quando comparada \u00e0 cana-de-a\u00e7\u00facar, apresenta ainda maior longevidade e mant\u00e9m a produtividade mais est\u00e1vel ao longo dos ciclos de cultivo, devido ao grande vigor da soqueira desse tipo de planta. Por\u00e9m, apesar destes diversos benef\u00edcios relatados, os gen\u00f3tipos de cana energia ainda s\u00e3o recentes no mercado e consequentemente, s\u00e3o escassos os estudos comprovando os pros e contras do cultivo da cana energia no Brasil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Na \u00faltima d\u00e9cada, o setor sucroenerg\u00e9tico fez os primeiros testes com o cultivo da cana energia no Brasil e evidenciaram resultados promissores, mas tamb\u00e9m se depararam com a aus\u00eancia de um pacote tecnol\u00f3gico para o cultivo e o uso industrial desta biomassa. Entende-se que a cana energia, apesar que ter uma semelhan\u00e7a gen\u00e9tica com a cana-de-a\u00e7\u00facar, deva ter um pacote tecnol\u00f3gico pr\u00f3prio para sua produ\u00e7\u00e3o e processamento, o qual envolver\u00e1 as principais pr\u00e1ticas agr\u00edcolas e tamb\u00e9m as configura\u00e7\u00f5es industriais mais adequadas para a transforma\u00e7\u00e3o desta biomassa em bioenergia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Al\u00e9m da capacidade de produ\u00e7\u00e3o de biomassa, o potencial de uso da cana energia para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de bioenergia e biocombust\u00edveis depende da composi\u00e7\u00e3o da mat\u00e9ria prima. A composi\u00e7\u00e3o mineral e estrutural e o n\u00edvel de umidade da biomassa vegetal influenciam a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de energia, aumentado ou reduzindo a efici\u00eancia das instala\u00e7\u00f5es de convers\u00e3o de biomassa (Tanger et al. 2013). Os n\u00edveis elevados de lignina s\u00e3o desej\u00e1veis para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de biocombust\u00edveis, contudo altas concentra\u00e7\u00f5es de N, metais alcalinos e metais alcalinos terrosos e\/ou de cinzas na biomassa podem reduzir a efici\u00eancia da convers\u00e3o termoqu\u00edmica do combust\u00edvel, por causar incrusta\u00e7\u00f5es, esc\u00f3rias e corros\u00e3o durante sua combust\u00e3o (Shahandeh et al. 2011; Tr\u00f6ger et al. 2013). Do mesmo modo, elevados teores de umidade podem ocasionar a combust\u00e3o incompleta do material, reduzindo a efici\u00eancia do processo (Tanger et al. 2013). Dessa forma, a caracteriza\u00e7\u00e3o qu\u00edmica da mat\u00e9ria prima, cana energia, \u00e9 de fundamental import\u00e2ncia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Apesar do potencial de uso da cana energia depender da composi\u00e7\u00e3o da mat\u00e9ria prima e da extra\u00e7\u00e3o de nutrientes, ainda s\u00e3o escassos os trabalhos na literatura \u00a0avaliando tais par\u00e2metros em clones de cana energia especialmente no Brasil, at\u00e9 porque a sele\u00e7\u00e3o de gen\u00f3tipos de cana energia por programas de melhoramento no pa\u00eds \u00e9 relativamente recente. Estas respostas ser\u00e3o importantes n\u00e3o s\u00f3 para os processos de convers\u00e3o de energia (Sami et al. 2001), mas tamb\u00e9m para a sustentabilidade no longo prazo dos sistemas de cultivo (Somerville et al. 2010).
