Este g\u00eanero possui mais de 700 esp\u00e9cies conhecidas botanicamente, com propriedades f\u00edsicas e qu\u00edmicas muito diversas. Dessa forma, diferentes esp\u00e9cies de eucalipto s\u00e3o usadas para as mais diversas finalidades como, lenha, estacas, moir\u00f5es, dormentes, carv\u00e3o vegetal, celulose e papel, chapas de fibras e de part\u00edculas, at\u00e9 movelaria, gera\u00e7\u00e3o de energia, medicamentos, entre outros.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Al\u00e9m disso, algumas esp\u00e9cies s\u00e3o de r\u00e1pido crescimento e grande capacidade de adapta\u00e7\u00e3o a diferentes regi\u00f5es, sendo o principal g\u00eanero florestal plantado no Brasil, com grande import\u00e2ncia na economia do pa\u00eds. Segundo a Ind\u00fastria Brasileira de \u00c1rvores, em 2018 5,7 milh\u00f5es de hectares foram plantados com eucalipto, com uma produtividade m\u00e9dia de 36 m\u00b3\/ha\/ano. As planta\u00e7\u00f5es de eucalipto est\u00e3o localizadas principalmente nos estados de Minas Gerais (24%), S\u00e3o Paulo (17%) e Mato Grosso do Sul (16%).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">O g\u00eanero Pinus \u00e9 o segundo g\u00eanero florestal mais cultivado no pa\u00eds; pertence \u00e0 fam\u00edlia Pinaceae, com aproximadamente 90 esp\u00e9cies identificadas. As florestas de pinus no Brasil v\u00eam sendo cultivada comercialmente desde a d\u00e9cada de 60, sendo uma das principais fontes de mat\u00e9ria-prima para a ind\u00fastria da madeira. Est\u00e3o localizadas principalmente na regi\u00e3o sul do pa\u00eds, onde o clima, com temperaturas amenas favorece o seu desenvolvimento. Todavia, o g\u00eanero pode ser cultivado em diferentes regi\u00f5es, de acordo com a adaptabilidade \u00e0s condi\u00e7\u00f5es de clima e solo de cada esp\u00e9cie. Desse modo o pinus pode ser destinado a m\u00faltiplas finalidades, como serraria, ind\u00fastria de celulose e papel, pain\u00e9is, resinas, est\u00e9ticas, dentre outras.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">No Brasil, a planta\u00e7\u00e3o de pinus representa cerca de 20% das florestas plantadas, contribuindo de forma contundente no enfrentamento do impacto do desmatamento de \u00e1rvores nativas. De acordo com a Ind\u00fastria Brasileira de \u00c1rvores, em 2018 os plantios de pinus ocuparam 1,6 milh\u00f5es de hectares e concentram-se no Paran\u00e1 (42%) e em Santa Catarina (34%), seguidos de Rio Grande do Sul (12%) e S\u00e3o Paulo (8%).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">O principal uso da madeira de eucalipto e pinus no Brasil \u00e9 na ind\u00fastria de celulose e papel. No entanto, essas duas biomassas florestais apresentam caracter\u00edsticas que permitem sua utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de variadas formas, tais como carv\u00e3o, pela queima da madeira; res\u00edduos da explora\u00e7\u00e3o, produ\u00e7\u00e3o de pain\u00e9is de madeira, al\u00e9m da produ\u00e7\u00e3o de biocombust\u00edveis, dentre outros. Nesse sentido, a madeira de eucalipto e pinus, por ser uma biomassa lignocelul\u00f3sica, pode ser utilizada como uma mat\u00e9ria-prima para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de diversos biocombust\u00edveis de maior valor agregado como o bio-\u00f3leo, o etanol celul\u00f3sico e o biometano atrav\u00e9s de diferentes rotas t\u00e9rmicas, qu\u00edmicas e\/ou bioqu\u00edmicas.
