Agri-environmental impacts

Through field experiments in several regions of Brazil, SUCRE Project’s team aims to understand the agronomic and environmental effects of straw collection on soil, considering different soil and climate characteristics. Results of the evaluation will be compiled in a good practice guide which will help planning and management of straw collection activity, aiming to maintain the soil conservation and sugarcane productivity. In addition, studies that evaluate impacts of sugarcane on other natural resources, such as land availability and water resources, also provide directions for electricity production with lower environmental impacts.
