The Brazilian Biorenewables National Laboratory (LNBR), part of the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) – a private non-profit organization under the supervision of the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovations (MCTI), in partnership with the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), offers a post-doctoral position to build metamodels to assess sustainability impacts in sugarcane-livestock integration systems, taking into account the economic, social and environmental dimensions. This post-doctoral project is associated with the Thematic Project “Sugarcane-livestock integration: Modeling and Optimization”, funded by FAPESP.
The approved candidate will be hired for a post-doctoral scholarship for the period of 24 months. The researcher should have experience in input-output models, life cycle analysis and economic feasibility analysis (including risk). These metamodels will compose an optimization framework, which will contribute to identify the most sustainable configurations through the Thematic Project to which this post-doctorate is linked, being an instrument to guide public policies intended to achieve the sustainable development of bioenergy and agriculture in Brazil.
We seek candidates that are highly motivated, scientifically productive, with background in chemical engineering, food engineering, bioenergy, or related areas. The candidate is expected to participate in scientific events and to prepare reports and research articles related to the scope of the project.
The candidate will receive a monthly post-doctoral scholarship from FAPESP worth BRL 7.373,10 (approximately USD 1500) plus technical reserve (15% of the scholarship) to be used in expenses directly related to the research activities.
The candidates shall send to the e-mail antonio.bonomi[at]lnbr.cnpem.br and mpcunha[at]unicamp.br the following documents: a short letter (1 page) describing previous experiences and interest in the position, a short CV (maximum 4 pages) highlighting the main academic indicators, and two (2) recommendation letters. The documents must be submitted no later than March 10th, 2022.

About CNPEM
A sophisticated and effervescent research and development environment, unique in Brazil and present in few scientific centers in the world, the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) is a private non-profit organization under the supervision of the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovations (MCTI). The Center operates four National Laboratories and is the cradle of the most complex project in Brazilian science – Sirius – one of the most advanced synchrotron light sources in the world. CNPEM brings together highly specialized multi-thematic teams, globally competitive laboratory infrastructures open to the scientific community, strategic lines of research, innovative projects in partnership with the productive sector, and training for researchers and students. The Center is an environment driven by the search for solutions with an impact in Health, Energy, Environment, New materials, among others.
The unique and complementary skills present at CNPEM encourage Research and Development (R&D) in areas of synchrotron light; accelerator engineering; drug-discovery, including from plant species of Brazilian biodiversity; molecular mechanisms involved in the onset and progression of cancer, heart disease, and neurodevelopment; functionalized nanoparticles to fight bacteria, viruses, cancer; new nanostructured sensors and devices for the oil and gas, and health sectors; biotechnological solutions for the sustainable development of advanced biofuels, biochemicals, and biomaterials.
